PAPER GREEN

(2018) - View the full newspaper here

Paper Green is a printed newspaper magazine about the topic of greening cities, came from research collected for my dissertation. Climate change and corporate grey buildings are taking over the busy hubs in which nearly 65% of the global population will inhabit by 2050.

Research began by looking at the future of cities and urban spaces, before discovering that green space is lacking heavily and will continue to deplete as we develop into 'smart' cities. My goal was then to raise awareness about the increasing need for natural elements to be brought back, through open areas or applied through green walls. Both of which can help boost the environment and create a more aesthetically pleasing infrastructure.

The final newspaper addressed the 'solistalgia' looming over Sheffield, as well as sharing the future of the built environment spoken about at London's EcoBuild conference (now renamed FutureBuild), with the goal for consumers to join in with the movement to a greener, and cleaner built up future.

For the newspaper release, Paper Green created an immersive basement exhibition, with a contrast of construction and green photography, shown at the April 2018 Different Life Collective House show.
